I cannot change the logo in the header. I even went into the files and replaced wp-content/themes/wpfreelance/img/logo.png with a different file named exactly the same. Nothing seems to work when changing the logo

From dashboard => Appearances => Customize => Site Indentity section. You can update logo on that link.
